I've never really experienced a serious physical injury. No broken bones. The only stitches I've had were from surgeries. So, I am speaking about this example purely from the observer's point of view.
If you've ever broken a bone or any other sort of serious medical injury, you know that medical personnel often walk a fine line between causing more pain by neglecting to handle an injury or condition and expediting the healing process by causing temporarily intense pain. For example, if you were to break your arm the last thing you would want is for someone to touch it. The pain would be intense and excruciating. However, the doctor would recognize that in order for you to live life with a fully functioning arm it would be necessary for him to cause you to experience that intense, excruciating pain for a moment while he set your arm. So, he would take whatever action he needed in order for this to occur. Now its very possible that the pain may be too much and you might become nauseated or faint. But the bone would be properly set and your body would be able to start the healing process in earnest.
In my experience this same rule applies to emotional injuries. There are times when we have to have things moved back into alignment with who we truly are. And sometimes that process is painful and we'd like nothing better than to run away and hide. But the truth that we know deep in our hearts is that on the other side of this temporary pain is the healing, joy, freedom and abundance our heart has longed to experience.
I AM the Light of Truth
